Aerate Sound is a Bangalore based A/V duo made up of Joe Panicker and Naquash. Their live sets merge a sound inspired by the sample driven hip-hop/beat culture (think DJ Shadow, JDilla) with video art and visual experiments to create a highly cinematic and immersive experience. They released their debut album “Only For External" this march via Consolidate - a Bangalore based record label/collective.
Only For External, in their owns words, is an attempt to capture the space they live in. In the album, Aerate Sound employ abstract sonic patterns, beat centric instrumentation, folk samples and field recordings to create a layered soundtrack that transitions effortlessly through disparate sounds, textures, structures and moods.
The 9 track album features collaborations with Bangalore-based MC Smokey the Ghost and The Burning Deck, adding depth and diversity to Aerate Sound’s debut effort.
Pardafash (Sandhya Visvanathan) is a graphic designer and llustrator who moonlights as a vocalist-producer and songwriter. She frequently collaborates with artists from her music family - Bangalore based electronic music collective - Consolidate. She was previously in Machli, a band that meshed together electronic beats and samples from Indian films, two acoustic guitarists and her own auto-tuned vocals to create their unique sound.
Pardafash’s solo live act is her interpretation of protest music through a combination of songs that are stories and spoken word monologues. She believes in using narrative electronic music to make a record of the time we live in. Pardafash’s debut EP will be released this year.
